Neil Harbisson was born with achromatopsia, an illness that makes him see the world in black & white. Anyway, he decided to study Fine Arts at the Alexandre Satorras Institute (Spain) where they accepted his bicolor vision. In 2002, Neil moved to England to follow his studies at the Darlington College of Arts where he met Adam Montandon who introduced him into the Cyber-robotics. Together they began to work in the creation of an eyeborg, a kind of robotic eye.
They created a camera that captures the colours and turns them into soundwaves (with the helps of a software named Peter Kase) This system makes Neil able to hear colours and memorize more than 3000 different frequencies.
Neil harbisson has travelled around all Europe making sound portraits to its main capitals. He has composed several musical pieces and has colaborated with musicians of all around the world and he has received different prizes thanks to his investigations in the fields of sound and music.
