Idea:
„We all touch CDs and DVDs with extreme caution so as to protect their surface from mechanic damage in order to prevent losing any previous data saved on these carriers. I find new qualities in these objects and their surfaces, and thus challenge and ignore this common practice. The ideally smooth surface of the CDs offers a platform for the creation of other kinds of information: information meant to be “read” through the touch of fingers”
An installation includes 111 hand-engraved CD и DVD and standard plastic CD/DVD boxes with a digital print covers on the outside and with covers with Braille relief print on the inside of the box. Their presentation in public offers multiple options for arrangement in space. The objects are permanents, durable, easy to handle by human hand, and widely spread and known to out sense of touch. They can be experienced individually or as a group of CDTactil and they are easy to transport, and they can have affect in both a lit and dim space. The tactile cover offers the immediate possibility for people with limited sight to understand the concept without the need for inter-mediator, while the idea also leads the people without sight limitations to focus on an internal, introvert experience of these unconventionally presented conventional objects.
